I offer In-Person and Virtual school visits that give students a behind-the-scenes look at the writing process and how a picture book comes to life. During my 45-minute presentation, I share how ideas begin, how I decide which ones to grow, and what it takes to turn a small spark into a finished story. I give students an honest look at the writing process--including drafts that didn't work--and what it's like to collaborate with an illustrator as words and art come together to create something powerful. 

 

I can personalize visits to highlight themes connected to specific books, such as reimagining fairy tales with CeeCee Underground Railroad Cinderella, or exploring STEM, innovation, and perseverance with Ticktock Banneker's Clock and The Sole Man.

Each visit includes a reading, time for student (and teacher) questions, and book signing opportunities. All pre-ordered books will be signed and personalized with the students’ name. My goal is to inspire students to value their ideas and see themselves as creators. ​​​​
