This is Jazzy's comeback story. She made it. I'm so grateful. It's the power of belief, the power of faith, the power of friends and their prayers, and my little warrior's fighting spirit.

I cannot believe how close we came to losing her and how little the vet did to help. But she made it. That's what matters.

I appreciate all the prayers. It made a difference. 🙏🏽✨️💙

✨ This isn’t your typical unboxing video because it hasn’t exactly been a typical time.

My sweet little sidekick, Jazzy, was on the brink of death not long ago. We thought we were going to lose her. The insane, rapid weight loss, the weakness - it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. And I’ve been a lifelong cat/bird/fish/bunny/dog mom, so I thought I've seen it all. It turned out to be a parasite, and while our other cat got it too, we thankfully recognized the signs early with him. But with Jazzy...it was terrifying.

Sometimes survival itself is the most powerful story of all. 🙏🏽💖

For days we fed her every few hours just to keep her alive. She’s still not strong enough to eat much on her own, but she’s walking again-fighting with every ounce of her little body. And yesterday, she walked over to the box. Of course I told her in my sternest voice: we’re not doing this unboxing without you.

Because this book, CeeCee, may not be about her story-but she’s been my writing buddy through it all. And in several seasons of so much loss, I couldn’t bear to share this moment without her. She’s a fighter, and my punctured fingers can prove it. 😁🐾💪

So here it is: an unboxing, a book, and a grateful heart-for stories, for resilience, and for still having my little buddy with me to celebrate this dream. 💛📚😻

I’m endlessly grateful to Charlesbridge for taking a chance on this story, to Laura for her breathtaking illustrations, and to Karen for always drawing out the very best in my writing. ✨
