Shana Keller is an award-winning, children’s author whose books celebrate resilience, history, and family bonds. Her titles include Do You Know Them? (Junior Library Guild Gold Standard), Bread for Words: A Frederick Douglass Story (Irma Black Honor), and Ticktock Banneker’s Clock (Children’s Book Council Best STEM Book). She has also written Fly, Firefly!, The Peach Pit Parade: A World War I Story, The Sole Man: Jan Matzeliger’s Lasting Invention (a Eureka! Nonfiction Children’s Book Award Honor), and the recently released CeeCee: Underground Railroad Cinderella (Junior Library Guild Gold Standard). Passionate about history since her studies at the University of Miami, Florida, Shana continues to link the past to the present through her stories. Her lifelong travels across the United States and Europe have given her a rich perspective on culture, family—perspectives that continue to shape her sense of place and fuels the stories she tells.
