ABOUT THE AUTHOR

SHANA KELLER

Award-Winning Author & Educator

The day I got my library card was far more exciting than the day I got my driver's license. Okay, maybe not. But it was just as liberating! Books have always been my passport to amazing people, hidden histories, and endless adventures.

As an award-winning children's author, I love weaving these untold narratives into stories that spark curiosity in young readers. When not at my desk with one of my two cats, I love to practice jiujitsu, attempt challenging yoga poses, walk on the beach (even in the cold), read or research with a hot cup of Earl Grey close by, do no more than 1,000-piece puzzles with my other cat, make pumpkin cupcakes year-round, and learn German for the millionth time.

Beyond the page, my commitment to children's growth extends directly into the academic world. In my role as Director of Education and a lead educator, I am deeply passionate about project-based learning and robust STEM/STEAM integration.

My time working within diverse classroom environments allows me to design high-energy school visits and presentations that seamlessly bridge literature with modern curriculum standards. I believe that by teaching children to look closer at history and science, we empower them to become the next generation of creative problem solvers.

I've always carried a real passport alongside my literary one. My life has taken me on an incredible journey across the United States and Europe, fueling a deep love or exploration. No matter where I've lived (and I've moved more times than I can count), unearthing the world's hidden histories and capturing them through writing and photography remain among my greatest joys.

This passion for exploration is the spark of my creative process. By digging into historical archives and scientific truths, I work to bring complex subjects—from early clockwork innovations to legendary storytellers—into accessible, inspiring spaces for children.
